Great tour. We learned a lot of the history of Nicaragua. There was a good balance between the history, the walk and the information about the food and local life. We would recommend this tour by Alejandro.

Top notch tour of León

I really enjoyed Alejandro's tour (as did the other 10 people on it). You can tell he really cares about what he does, and had some useful local tips (e.g. a bank with no ATM withdrawal fees). I really liked the part where we went into the central market and he set us up with some local food, explaining the foods as we tried them. He's quite personable and I'd recommend this tour without hesitation.

If you are in Leon, you absolutely have to book a tour with Alejandro. I’ve traveled to many places and done many walking tours, and Alejandro easily ranks in my top tier of guides worldwide. What sets him apart is his incredible attention to detail and his ability to make complex Nicaraguan history accessible. He is clearly a well-read scholar of his craft; he even brings physical images and maps to the tour to help illustrate historical points. His explanations are crystal clear, and he has a unique talent for using analogies and examples from the specific nationalities of the people in the group, making the history feel personal to everyone. The pacing was perfect, and I was particularly impressed by how he ended the tour. He took a few minutes to genuinely ask for feedback so he can continue to refine his tour. It’s clear he doesn’t just do this as a job—he truly loves what he does. An absolute must-do in Leon!
