Description

Discover the three pillars of the "City of Stone" on this streamlined, easy-paced 2-hour walking tour. Designed to avoid the most treacherous, slippery slopes, we take a comfortable route through Gjirokastër's grandest history, making it accessible and highly engaging. Our journey follows a perfect historical trilogy:

The Castle: we stand beneath the towering, historic fortress walls to uncover medieval legends, military secrets, and the city’s defensive origins.

The Bazaar: we descend into the vibrant, century-old Ottoman market crossroads to see local master craftsmen at work and admire the non-slip cobblestones.

The Dictator: we enter the historic old neighborhood to visit the birthplace of Albania's notorious communist dictator, Enver Hoxha (now the Ethnographic Museum).

Important note: museum and fortress interior entry tickets are not included. This gives you the flexibility to enjoy the beautiful exterior architecture and stories with the group, or purchase a ticket at the end to explore the museum rooms at your own pace together with the guide.

Perfect for enjoying an historical walking for your vacation and wanting a relaxing time!

Fun and very informative tour

A huge thank you to our amazing guide Marko. We had such a great time on this tour and learned so many interesting facts about the city and Albania’s history. Marko made the experience both fun and informative, and we couldn’t have asked for a better guide. We highly recommend this tour, you won’t regret it!
