Description

Most Vienna tours stay inside the tourist postcard. This one doesn’t.

This tour takes you into the neighborhoods where Viennese actually eat, drink, and live. You will see baroque churches that are practically empty, Biedermeier lanes that tourists never find, and the political history that shaped modern Austria.

The route covers roughly 3 km on mostly flat ground.

Highlights: Spittelberg (the finest Biedermeier quarter in the city), the Piaristenkirche (frescoes by Maulbertsch), Justizpalast and the July Revolt of 1927, the 7th District's independent cafés and shops, and Lange Gasse at its most photogenic.

The tour is free to join. You tip your guide on what the experience was worth to you at the end. Group size is capped so you can always hear your guide. Tours run daily in English, Spanish, Italian, and German. We start at Maria-Theresien-Platz, next to the Maria Theresa statue between the two museums.

Vienna Like a local - with Josef

Josef was a very authentic and original guide. I did yesterday with prime tours the higjlights tour and this was a great addition to yesterday’s tour! Totally recommend!

Must-do in Vienna

Finally a new free tour route in Vienna

I’ve visited Vienna 5 years ago and there was only a highlights tour. On this tour they combined the famous ring Straßen buildings like the university with hip districts off the beaten paths! Although we stayed very close to the center Josef made this tour as an highlight for me! 100% recommend

Kurzweilig und interessant. Unbedingt zu empfehlen!

Unser Guide Joseph war sehr sympathisch und hat uns sehr kurzweilig mit Geschichten um Wien, seine Geschichte und den speziellen Gebäuden unterhalten. Sehr bemerkenswert fand ich seine Rücksichtnahme auf Teilnehmer, die nicht so schnell hinterher kamen etc. Chapeau! Vielen Dank dafür.
