Description

Join the history of Baku's Old City and the entire region. From ancient tombs, fire worship, and excavations, to 19th-century houses of oil millionaires, and to the largest modern collection of miniature books.

Start at the magnificent Double Gates (Gosha Gala), the main entrance to the fortress of Baku Old City . Near them lies the Underground Bathhouse Hamam, a historic 17th-century bath. Continue to the Maiden Tower, the iconic 12th-century symbol of Baku, a defensive structure with panoramic views of the city and the Caspian Sea.

Next to it is Bazaar Square, where merchants traded for centuries. Visit the Juma Mosque, built in the 14th century, with Quranic inscriptions and preserved original elements. Stop by the Multani Caravanserai, a Silk Road merchant’s resting place.

Then see the Muhammad Mosque, the oldest in Baku, known for its resilience through invasions. Discover the Miniature Book Museum, a unique collection of tiny books from all around the world. Explore the Shirvanshahs Palace, a 15th-century living place of royal family.

You can also visit Ali Shamsi’s workshop, the monument to Aliaga Vahid, the Haji Gaib Bathhouse, and other notable spots.
