Description

Join us on an immersive tour that will take you back in time to the former Yugoslavia and the impact of the war on its people. The tour begins with a breathtaking panoramic view of the city, giving you an introduction to the geographical area. Learn about the three times Sarajevo was the center of the world in the last hundred years, from the assassination in Sarajevo in 1914 to the Olympic games that Sarajevo hosted in 1984 during communist Yugoslavia.

Next, we will take you through Sniper Alley and Grbavica, the last place anyone would want to live during the siege. Experience the war through original videos and pass through the 25-meter original Tunnel of Hope. Discover Karadžić's main base and talk about the Fall of “European America”.

Our tour also takes you to the famous bob sleigh track located on mountain Trebević and finishes at the place where Sarajevo was shelled. Learn about the tragic love story of the most popular couple in Sarajevo under siege. See City Hall, the Olympic complex, Sarajevo Roses, Old Yugoslav military barracks, Hotel Holiday Inn, frontlines, and the two entities. Join us on this unforgettable journey and discover the past that shaped Sarajevo.

Great Experience

Excellent tour to more particularly understand the recent history and war period of Sarajevo, Bosnia Herzegovina ???????? and Yugoslavia. It takes you back to those dark days. Highly recommended.

A Sarajevo Must Do Tour

Yes. You should do this tour. On a two week road trip through the Balkans, we stopped in Sarajevo for two nights. We were unsure if we wanted to spend the day on a long tour but we are so grateful that we did. This Fall of Yugoslavia tour was amazing and incredibly moving. Even more moving was our guide and driver were both survivors of the war. Even though we had a car, we probably would not have seen as much as we did today. My husband and I are history buffs; however, no amount of reading could possibly compare to what we experienced on this tour today. I will remember this tour for the rest of my life.

Great guide!

This tour took us to a few places we would hardly understand on our own, as the Zehra Muidovic maternity hospital. Ago was a very insightful data-driven guide, whose nuanced take on history and personal experience took us beyond oversimplified narratives. Doing a tour with a big group is always a challenge for those wanting a more in-depth political perspective, but it was a good compromise.

very informative tour

Our tour Guide Ago was excellent at explaining and showing the tour highlights. He explained and shared the stories during the war I will highly recommend.

Educational and Emotional

I was a young adult when Yugoslavia fell. I didn't really understand fully what it was all about. This tour addressed this and my questions. I found the stories of survival in Sarajevo emotional and frightening. Being shelled constantly for almost 4 years, unimaginable. Then at the end of the tour being able to walk the Sarajevo 84 Bobsled track was a really cool experience. Thanks Armin, you were a great guide! ????
