Description

Step behind the Iron Curtain with a local guide. From the former KGB headquarters to Soviet landmarks and the concrete giant of Linnahall, hear real stories about everyday life under communism, and how that past still shapes Estonia today.

YOU'LL SEE:
The former KGB headquarters, Kino Sõprus, the Writers' House, the Russian Embassy and Linnahall by the sea.

HOW IT FEELS:
Real stories, not a history lecture. Some will surprise you, some are so absurd they'll make you laugh.

LANGUAGE:
English only.

GUIDES:
Jonas, Marko or Christopher. All live in Tallinn and work only for EstAdventures, a small local company.

MEETING POINT:
Niguliste 2, in front of the Tourist Information Centre (not Niguliste Church across the street). Look for the blue umbrella!

END:
Linnahall, after about 2 hours (sometimes 10–20 min more; we never rush).

HOW IS IT FREE?
Booking costs nothing. At the end, give what you feel the tour was worth, by card or cash. Most guests give €15–50, and it goes directly to your guide. Thank you for supporting local guiding!

See you in Tallinn!

A Great Tour with an Amazing Guide!

A really interesting and entertaining tour! The stories about Tallinn during the Soviet era were engaging, informative, and presented in a very accessible way. A special compliment goes to our guide — knowledgeable, relaxed, and with an excellent sense of humor. He made the tour both educational and genuinely fun, and the two hours passed incredibly quickly. Highly recommended if you want to understand more about Tallinn’s communist past while also having a great time!

Amazinh Expert Guide

An amzaing tour with an expert historian who was so well versed and excited to share his knowledge. This was not your standard here is an old building tour..it was peppered and woven with fantastic contextual stories and just the right amount of humor. One way you know a tour is interesting is rge engagement of the participants. This guy had everyone asking questions!!
