Free Tour through the gardens of the Granja Palace

We’ll meet at the Plaza de España, across from the Royal Collegiate Church of the Royal Palace of La Granja de San Ildefonso, where Philip V and Isabel de Farnesio left their legacy. Next to the Patio de la Herradura, we’ll find vast Baroque gardens, inspired by Versailles but adapted to the landscape of the Sierra de Guadarrama. The first stop is the Fuente de la Selva, featuring the myth of Vertumnus and Pomona, followed by the fountains of Neptune and Amphitrite, allegories of royal power. Next, we’ll visit the Fuente de los Vientos, the twin Dragon Fountains, and the Plaza de las Ocho Calles, the geometric center of the complex. Further on, the Fountain of the Frogs evokes the punishment of Leto, before concluding with the grand complexes of the Baths of Diana and Fame, symbols of Philip V’s triumph.
