Explore the Historic City of Tui with a Local Guide

Welcome to Tui, a charming medieval town on the border between Galicia and Portugal!

Our tour will begin with its most iconic landmark: the majestic Cathedral of Santa María, a true cathedral-fortress that towers over the town and bears witness to its historical significance.

We’ll then wander through the cobblestone streets of the historic center, past picturesque squares, old houses, churches, and architectural details that tell the story of Tui’s medieval past. We’ll also discover traces of the former Jewish community, the Encerradas Convent, and the Chapel of San Telmo, the city’s patron saint.

Throughout the walk, I’ll share with you fascinating anecdotes, legends, and stories, as well as insights into the Portuguese Way of St. James and the ties between Galicia and Portugal.

We’ll end our walk at a magnificent viewpoint overlooking the Miño River—the natural border between Spain and Portugal—with the fortified town of Valença right across the way. An exceptional panorama to wrap up this tour of Tui!
