Description

There's a reason this tour is longer than most.

It's not that the old town's very big. If you're short on time, there are some excellent tours covering it in 2 hours or less.

But if you ask me, Valencia deserves more than that.

On this tour, we'll take our time and dig a little deeper. This is a chance to really understand Valencia, rather than just a quick overview.

A Few Highlights:

• How 500 years of Muslim rule shaped Valencia—and left a lasting legacy
• Christian conquest & explosive rise as one of Europe's richest cities
• The Golden Age, followed by crises and decline
• War, dictatorship & revival—the road to modern-day Valencia
• The story of the bat and why it's everywhere
• The river that's not a river
• What makes authentic paella and where to try it
• Why 'Esmorzaret' is better than brunch

What to Expect:

I focus on storytelling rather than endless dates and facts. We'll go at a relaxed pace, with a break just after halfway for a drink and a chat. And there'll be plenty of time for questions, getting to know you, and giving personalized advice—especially about food.

My hope is you'll feel like you've been shown around by a friend.

Valencia - what a history!!

This was one of the best walking tours that I’ve done. An information packed 3.5 hours with Duncan providing great insight and addressing the needs of everyone in the group. I’d thoroughly recommend this.

I strongly recommend. Interesting. Lots of main places and more. Nice break during the tour to drink in nice local cafe.

Wonderful Tour

Duncan was a very interseting and well informed guide. We very much enjoyed our tour today. And he was very kind in sharing his knowledge about Valencia and catering to our individual needs. We would definitely recomend this walking tour

Sheppard family

What a fantastic tour. Our guide Duncan gave us a 3.5hour tour of the old town. His knowledge of the history, culture and the cuisine was well researched and presented to us. Having completed the tour we were well equipped to explore the town by ourselves. Highly recommended.

Best guided walking tour in Valencia

Today we had the great luck of taking a 4-hour tour with Duncan. It was our first day in Valencia, and by the end of the tour, we felt fully equipped to navigate the city and its neighborhoods.Duncan is extremely well-prepared and has a wealth of background knowledge about the region's history, culture, and cuisine. He also gave us fantastic recommendations for what to do over the next few days, highlighting ongoing events and explaining how locals celebrate their holidays. He also told us many interesting stories and myths, we had also a lot of fun. 5* guide! Thank you so much!

Reviews for Duncan's valencia history tour.

I really enjoyed how Duncan began the history from start ,covering the Muslim era, the conquest, wins and loses, and rational analyses of different government decisions in the past. Duncan is a true valencian with an eye for history. Had a great time.
