Description

This is the only tour of London that takes you directly in the footsteps of both Shakespeare and Dickens and is led by contemporary writers working in the city today. Welcome… to London’s Greatest Stories tour!

London has been home to some of the greatest writers who have ever lived: Shakespeare, Dickens, Chaucer, Keats, and more. What's more, the city has also provided inspiration for some of the greatest stories ever told. This is the only London literary tour that walks in those footsteps AND is run by someone who is actually writing the city today.

This is not a dry or dull history tour. It’s a fast-paced, story-driven walk through the lives, scandals, and streets of Shakespeare, Dickens, and the writers who have shaped this city. We will walk in the footsteps of the greats - from Dickens’ childhood to Shakespeare's Globe via Chaucer's Canterbury - and uncover the stories behind the stories, the fights, the struggles, and the moments that changed literary history. Along the way, you’ll hear live readings, surprising anecdotes, and the hidden stories that most tours miss...

Super great tour - Thank you Adam

Adam, thank you for the fun and very interesting tour. Perfectly paced. Fun. And involved everyone. I am retired niw but am finding a renaissance to revisit some high school and university required readings from the past. You have inspired me. Thank you!!!

The best for English literature nerds and fans!

Really nice, different and special tour. Leo made sure that everyone followed him and was into the tour and stories. Totally recommended: Just a small "but", which I always find uncomfortable in free tours: the fact that guides mention a "minimum" fee might make the audience feel uncomfortable, especially those coming from different cultures and budgets. Even if they say it's up to the client, it creates awkwardness as you somehow feel bad if you don't give them that amount or you were planning a bit less if travelling on a budget. But then again this applies to all free tours lately, I guess it's a thing!

Shakespeare and Dickens in SE London

Great knowledgeable tour by a literature expert unpacking local history as may have been experienced by literary giants Dickens and Shakespeare . Evenly paced , picturesque , few sit down spots on the way , this tour will especially appeal to literary geeks who like to see context of author's lives and how they may have been inspired from their environment . Thanks Adam !
