Fez in One Day: Royal Palace, Mellah, Medina & Merinid Tombs by Car

A private full day that combines driving and walking, so you see the whole of Fez and not only the old medina. Your guide is Hassane, a nationally licensed tour guide (license MA-429) and member of the Fez Guide Association, with more than 25 years of guiding in Fez. A private car with driver takes you between the sites (up to 5 people per car).

We start at the golden doors of the Royal Palace in Fes el-Jdid and walk through the Mellah, the old Jewish quarter. We drive around the ramparts and visit a ceramics and pottery cooperative to see how Fez zellige and pottery are made. Then we enter the medina on foot: the mausoleum of Moulay Idriss II, the Qarawiyyin mosque and university (founded 859), a medieval madrasa and the Chouara tanneries. After lunch and time in the souks, we finish at the Merinid tombs with a panorama over the whole city.
