The history of Valletta is representative of that of the whole island: a mixture of influences from all the foreign powers that ruled it in turn throughout the centuries.

Built by the Knights of St. John, Valletta quickly became a very important and cosmopolitan harbour city and a perfect place through which foreign culinary practices and new exciting ingredients would have been able to enter the island.

Food Tour in Valletta

We had a great food tour. We tasted a lot of different local specialties, including drinks. Besides the food, we also get a good insight into Malta`s / Valletta´s history. I especially enjoyed the lunch at the end, which took place in an indoor market place. I can just recommend it!

Great food & intro to Malta

Matthew was a nice guide who showed us around Valletta for 3 hours, we tried a lot of the must have local food & got a good history of Malta. Definitely recommend!

Worth every penny!! Totally recommended!

We met the guide at Valletta city gate, next to the parliament building. During the tour we tasted several Maltese food tasting which we would have not done it on our own. Additionally the guide has explained the history behind it and how it ended up to be a Maltese dish. The food tasting provided is enough to replace breakfast and lunch. Totally worth it, when considering how much we paid including food and guide. It is highly recommended!
