Nijmegen's Mariken of Nieumeghen: Self-Guided Exploration Game

This is a self-guided exploration game crafted by a passionate local storyteller and played through the old city wall of Nijmegen. You will explore 13 different locations while following the story of a medieval woman seeking justice searching for a vanished family and a forgotten trial. At each location, you'll solve a real-world puzzle by searching for clues on monuments, graffiti, and facades. The route stays in the old town, blending real history with neighborhood myths only locals share. Perfect for history lovers, mystery fans and urban explorers.

Starting from Standbeeld Petrus Canisius, the stops are spaced an average of around 200m apart, with each location taking around 8 min to complete. The route also passes through Grote- of Stevenskerk, Namenmonument and Beth Knesset Jitzchak. At each location, you'll solve a challenge and receive instructions for the next chapter.
