Description

Join City Walks Krakow as we delve into the 700-year-old history of Krakow's Jewish Quarter. Discuss the occupation of the German Army during World War Two and visit the site of the former Kraków ghetto. Walk the cobbled streets past the Old synagogue, the oldfest Jewish Building in Poland, and visit the poignant, Empty Chairs Holocaust memorial. Learn about famous war heroes like Oskar Schindler and the Kraków ghetto Pharmacist as your guide talks you through how this quiet town was irrevocably changed during the Second World War.

You will also learn about the area before the war and see how this once-forgotten part of Kraków is now a revived hub of street food and vibrant culture. No trip to Kraków is complete without a visit to the Jewish Quarter.

We recommend that groups of more than 10 guests contact us in advance to book a private tour.

Marta gave an amazing tour

Everyone on the tour was quite engaged with the help of Marta’s explanations. Recommend this tour.

Excellent context for the city!

Dale was a wonderful guide and storyteller for the tour. It was fantastic to get such interesting context of the city and the lead up to WWII before visiting Auschwitz. However, I would’ve enjoyed the tour as a standalone too.

Good tour, but could be better!

I enjoyed the tour and learned a lot, though the places we went to were a bit far from the meeting place but I didn’t mind it at all. The guide was very nice, knowledgable, and answered questions very well. However, she mentioned that she was fairly new to guiding, so the tour got a bit boring towards the end. Overall it was still a nice tour and I would still recommend it :)

Interesting tour

An interesting tour in a fascinating part of town. Sadly spoilt by one person asking endless questions.

Danny Hearty · September 2026
