Description

Cascais was a fishing village for centuries—until the king chose it as his summer residence in 1870, and the entire Portuguese nobility followed suit.

On this walking tour, you’ll discover the palaces right by the sea, the private beach of Portugal’s last queen, the old town with its narrow streets and azulejos, the citadel where the royal family lived, the Santa Marta Lighthouse, and the Boca do Inferno. Along the way, I’ll tell you why Portugal’s first electric light was turned on here and not in Lisbon, and why there are so many English pubs in a Portuguese town.

But Cascais isn’t just about history. You’ll also get to know the Cascais of today: the one inhabited by people from over a hundred countries—and the one where you might run into the former president every morning while he’s swimming.

CityTour Cascais

Wir hatten mit Naiara Antonutti sowie dem Tourenanbieter einen Glücksgriff gemacht. Alles war perfekt organisiert und zeitlich sehr gut abgestimmt, obgleich wir es eher kurzfristig gebucht hatten. Alles in allem war es eine sehr informative und individuelle Tour, die keine Fragen offen ließ. Wir haben viel Wissenswertes über Land und Leute sowie geschichtliche Besonderheiten im Kontext der Monarchie bis in die Gegenwart erfahren. Dafür möchten wir uns ganz herzlich bedanken und würden diese Tour auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen.

Bezaubernd Cascais entdeckt

Wir nehmen viele tolle Eindrücke und Erinnerungen mit nach Hause. Besonders schön fanden wir die persönliche Atmosphäre, die kleinen Anekdoten und örtlichen Hinweise. Naiara hat uns kompetent, leidenschaftlich und sympathisch Cascais sowie die Gegend näher gebracht. Ein Ausklang mit Sonnenuntergang rundete die Tour ab. Kurz: ein Spaziergang, welchen wir gerne weiter empfehlen.

Wir hatten das Glück, Cascais mit Naiara zu erkunden, und wir könnten nicht zufriedener sein.
