The Women Porto Forgot Tour- Real Stories Behind The City History

What if you could discover Porto through the stories of the women who lived, loved, worked, wrote and challenged the rules of their time?

On this Free Tour, we step away from the usual historical narrative and meet five remarkable women whose lives reveal a different side of Porto.

Meet Maria Peregrina de Sousa, a writer who recorded the traditions and everyday life of her time; Francisca Luís, a Black, free woman born in Porto whose story survived in a 16th-century Inquisition record; Ana Plácido, whose choices led her to prison in 1860 ; Maria Leite Paes Moreira, the first woman to enrol in higher education in Porto; and Leopoldina Ferreira Paulo, the first woman to earn a doctorate from the University of Porto.

Along the way, we will discover forgotten stories, surprising historical documents and places connected to their lives.
