Walking tour Stone Town

Ali was an excellent guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. Gave us a comprehensive tour of Stone Town and even ventured into New Town. Being a local he knew Stone Town like the back of his hand, and therefore gave us lots of insider stories about the history and culture. He also took us to the local market which was absolutely fascinating. We can highly recommend Ali.

Amazing and Authentic Stone Town Walking Tour

We had a wonderful Free Walking Tour through Stone Town with Ali and were absolutely happy with the experience! The organisation was very easy and flexible. We were even able to book the tour on the same day, and Ali was very spontaneous and flexible, so arranging the meeting worked perfectly. The tour lasted about two and a half hours and was very diverse. Ali showed us many historic buildings and explained the fascinating history behind them. We also visited the Freddie Mercury House and several different local markets, where we could see how locals shop and spend their time and where many local products are sold. We even got to try some of the local food, which made the experience even more authentic. Ali was very knowledgeable and shared lots of interesting information, but at the same time he was very friendly and humorous. This made the tour really enjoyable and the two and a half hours passed incredibly quickly. We would definitely recommend the tour with Ali. It is a great way to discover Stone Town and learn more about its history, culture and everyday life from a local guide!

Coffee with local people

The city tour with Ali was so great. He could tell us anything about the city and its history. But the best thing was the coffee with the locals. We could really feel the local culture!

Guide Ali was excellent

He educated me about the history of Zanzibar, the significance of various buildings around Stone Town and the meaning of the artwork on the doors. The Darajani markets were interesting with fruits I’ve never seen before and others larger than what I’m used to at home. If I could give 6 stars I would. I hope i educated Ali on the Queen band end he’s now going to find some of their music - he will not be disappointed.

Wonderful night tour

We had a great experience with Ali, walking the city in the evening without the crowds and bikes. He is very knowledgeable having lived here his entire life.
