A peaceful ride through Cam Kim

Cycling around Cam Kim was such a lovely change of pace from the busy streets of Hoi An. The route took us through quiet village roads, rice fields and local neighbourhoods, with plenty of stops to see how traditional crafts are still part of everyday life. One of the best parts was meeting local families and seeing the work they do by hand. It felt much more personal than simply visiting tourist attractions, and there were several opportunities to try things ourselves. Andy was a fantastic guide — friendly, easy to talk to and very knowledgeable about the area. He shared interesting stories about the local culture and history without making the tour feel like a history lesson. The cycling was easy and relaxed, with beautiful scenery along the way. A great experience for anyone wanting to see a quieter and more authentic side of Hoi An.

The good way to get away from the crowded

We had a great morning to the countryside in Hoi An, we met locals and learned about their business and local life. My guide, Andy, spoke English very good.

Cycling Tour to the hidden village

The Hoi An Tour That Made Me Forget About Work ❤️ This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Hoi An and one of the most authentic and memorable experiences we had in Vietnam. We booked Andy’s Hoi An countryside bicycle tour, with his brother Minh as our guide, and from the moment I contacted Andy, he was extremely responsive and genuinely listened to what we wanted. Rather than simply putting us on a standard tour, he understood what would suit my son and I and arranged exactly the kind of experience we were looking for. And what an experience it was. Within a couple of hours, I felt completely decompressed. I had forgotten about the city, emails, deadlines and the usual rush of everyday life. Cycling through the countryside, surrounded by rice paddies, water buffalo, cows and lush vegetation, was incredibly calming. For several hours, I genuinely forgot about my normal life and was simply present. What makes this tour different is that it feels truly authentic. Nothing was rushed, staged or awkward. It never felt like the local families were “performing” for tourists. We were welcomed into their actual homes and treated as guests rather than tourists. We visited a traditional mat weaving family, a wood carving family and a rice paper making family, sitting around their tables, sharing stories over iced tea and hearing about their lives. Their homes and lifestyles were simple, but their warmth and generosity were extraordinary. For our son, this was priceless. He got to experience real rural Vietnam and local life, meet local children, make friends and see how families actually live. His favourite part was crossing a tiny metal bridge over the river that is only wide enough for bicycles and motorbikes, apparently that was the highlight of the entire trip! Minh was also fantastic with him. He made our son feel completely at ease, and they chatted almost the entire way like friends. It was wonderful to watch. I also loved that the tour was not rushed at all. We had time to stop, talk, look around and enjoy each place. It felt much more like exploring the countryside with a local friend than following a tourist itinerary. I actually found Andy’s tour through ChatGPT after asking several questions about things to do with my son in Hoi An. It wasn't the first recommendation I received, but I kept looking and I am so glad I did. If you're searching for an authentic Hoi An countryside bike tour, family friendly cycling tour, cycling with kids, rural Vietnam experience, local artisan tour or an off the beaten path experience, I highly recommend Andy and Minh.
