Description

Welcome to Manchester, the city which birthed the industrial revolution. We'll start walking around St. Peter Square to get to know the history that surrounds this city, the characters that inhabited it and the events that took place there. Do you know what the symbol of the city is? You'll have to go there to discover it!

Our Tour is focus on the history of the city, and we will uncover the secrets of what made Manchester and the cultural revival, the importance of music and how Manchester became a pioneer for women suffrage, LGTBQ+ rights and of course football.

We will be discovering key buildings like the Free Trade Hall, John Rylands Library or the Royal Exchange while mixing it with new areas like spinning fields.

This tour is a unique experience for everyone that wants to know more about Manchester while walking the key buildings of the city.

A snapshot of Manchester's history and culture

Gareth Smith was a wonderful guide, showing us various cultural highlights of the city, with a good dose of background history, which really brought things into perspective. Highly recommend.

educational

Thankful for the tour lead by Gareth Smith, whose passion and love for Manchester is infection. He provided fun and interesting facts and stories about Manchester history and culture. He also provided us with map and suggestions what to explore on our own. And Salchicha is lovely and a great addition to the tour. One of the best tour I had recently.

History, Tunes, and Great Vibes!

If you are looking for a tour that feels less like a rigid history lesson and more like exploring a city with a passionate friend, this is the one. Today, we did the Manchester city tour with Ivo, and it was hands down one of the best experiences we’ve had. Ivo takes you on a brilliant journey through time, tracing Manchester’s roots from its very beginnings all the way to the vibrant, modern city it is today. What truly sets this tour apart, though, are the thoughtful details: * The Soundtrack: Between stops, we wore headphones and got to listen to a perfectly curated playlist of iconic Mancunian music. It kept the energy up and made walking through the streets feel incredibly cinematic. * The Interactive Quiz: Ivo put together a super fun quiz about famous Manchester inventions. It was a fantastic, engaging way to learn just how much this city has given to the world. It is a remarkably complete, creative, and deeply huma nized tour. Ivo’s passion for the city and its culture is contagious. Highly, highly recommended!
